It brings together useful guidance, important links, emergency contact details, advisories, and frequently asked questions to help Indian citizens access timely support from the Embassy of India, Bratislava.

Indian citizens are encouraged to remain connected with the Embassy, keep their passport and residence documents valid, follow local laws and regulations, and use official platforms for consular services and grievance redressal.

Key Services and Information for Indian Citizens

1. Passport Services

Indian citizens in Slovak Republic may approach the Embassy for passport-related services, including:

  • Re-issue of passport on expiry, change of particulars, etc
  • Issue of passport
  • Issue of Emergency Certificate
  • Issue of Police Clearance Certificate, where applicable
  • Other miscellaneous passport-related services, such as attestation, surrender certificate, etc.

Applicants are advised to check the relevant checklist and ensure that application forms, photographs, supporting documents and fees are complete before submission. The Embassy’s Consular Services section includes a dedicated Passport subsection with general guidelines and document checklists.

2. Emergency Assistance

Indian nationals in distress may contact the Embassy on the emergency helpline.

Emergency assistance may be sought in situations such as:

  • Loss of passport
  • Arrest or detention
  • Serious illness, hospitalization or accident
  • Death of an Indian national
  • Domestic violence or severe distress
  • Repatriation-related emergency
  • Any urgent situation involving Indian nationals

The emergency number is meant for genuine emergencies. Routine passport, visa, OCI, attestation or general inquiries should be addressed during office hours through the appropriate consular channels.

3. Registration with MADAD Portal

Indian citizens residing in Slovak Republic, especially students, workers and long-term residents, are encouraged to register on the MADAD Portal of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The MADAD platform enables Indian citizens to register and track consular grievances. It also provides a specific facility for registration of Indian students abroad.

Registration is especially useful in situations involving:

  • Emergency communication
  • Student welfare
  • Consular grievance tracking
  • Crisis management
  • Assistance to Indian nationals abroad

4. Indian Students in Slovak Republic

Indian students studying in Slovak Republic are advised to:

  • Register on the MADAD Student Registration portal
  • Keep passport, residence permit and university documents valid
  • Maintain copies of admission letter, residence card, insurance and emergency contacts
  • Follow local laws, university regulations and immigration requirements
  • Keep the Embassy informed in case of serious difficulty, distress or emergency

Students should also avoid relying on unverified agents or unofficial channels for admission, employment or immigration-related promises.

5. Indian Workers and Professionals

Indian nationals working in Slovak Republic are advised to:

  • Verify employment contracts before accepting overseas employment
  • Keep copies of employment contract, work permit, residence permit and insurance documents
  • Ensure that salary, working hours, accommodation and other terms are clearly recorded
  • Avoid handing over passport or original documents to unauthorized persons
  • Approach local authorities or the Embassy in case of exploitation, non-payment of salary, illegal confinement or serious distress

6. Loss of Passport

In case of loss or theft of passport, Indian nationals should:

  • Immediately report the loss to the local police and obtain a police report.
  • Inform the Embassy of India, Bratislava.
  • Submit an application for re-issue of passport or Emergency Certificate, as applicable.
  • Provide identity proof, copy of lost passport, residence permit details and other supporting documents.
  • Cooperate with verification requirements.

Indian citizens are advised to keep scanned copies of passport, visa/residence permit, insurance and identity documents safely in digital form.

7. Arrest, Detention or Legal Issues

If an Indian national is arrested or detained in Slovak Republic, they may request the local authorities to inform the Embassy of India, Bratislava.

The Embassy may, subject to local laws and regulations:

  • Seek consular access
  • Contact family members, if authorized
  • Monitor welfare of the detained Indian national
  • Facilitate communication with local authorities

The Embassy cannot interfere in judicial proceedings, provide legal representation, secure release from custody, or influence the outcome of legal cases.

8. Death of an Indian National

In the unfortunate event of the death of an Indian national in Slovak Republic, family members or concerned persons may contact the Embassy for guidance.

The Embassy may assist with:

  • Liaison with local authorities
  • Documentation for transportation of mortal remains
  • Documentation for local cremation or burial
  • No Objection Certificate, where applicable
  • Coordination with family members in India

The family or authorized representative should keep available the passport of the deceased, death certificate, medical documents, police report if applicable, and contact details of next of kin.

9. Travel Advisory for Indian Citizens

Indian citizens visiting Slovak Republic are advised to:

  • Carry a valid passport and appropriate visa/residence document with them always
  • Keep copies of passport and travel documents
  • Purchase adequate travel and medical insurance
  • Follow local laws and regulations

In emergencies involving immediate danger, local emergency services should be contacted first. The Embassy may assist with consular guidance, family contact, liaison with local authorities, and documentation support, subject to local laws.

11. Senior Citizens and Vulnerable Persons

Indian senior citizens and vulnerable persons residing in or visiting Slovak Republic are advised to keep the following information easily accessible:
